National "Doughnut" Accounting Spreadsheet Tool
English Economist Kate Raworth has written extensively about the need for our economy to operate within a safe and just space for humanity - one that meets basic social needs and sustains itself without exceed significant ecological boundaries. She conceives of this safe operating space as a "doughnut", which she describes in her 2017 book, Doughnut Economics.
The National Doughnut Accounting Spreadsheet tool was designed as a group project for Community Development students to gain experience with accessing and evaluating performance data from the World Bank, the United Nations and the Ecological Foodprint Network. Please note that this was designed as a teaching tool - the metrics included are imperfect and by no means exhaustive. |
